How to Have a Safe Pool Party During a Pandemic

Just a year ago, Fourth of July celebrations were big, loud, and lots of fun. Today, celebrations are being canceled across the country.

So, this means many of us are celebrating at home or the home of a friend or family member. This also begs the question, “How do you have a safe pool party during a pandemic?”You’re in luck, because we have the answer.

#1: Pools are Safe to Swim In

The CDC tells us COVID-19 cannot survive in properly treated pool and hot tub water. In addition, the World Health Organization states that controlling water quality is necessary to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.

While it is safe to swim during this crisis, it is important that pool and hot tub owners properly maintain their pools and spas. If you need any help, we are your Tulsa pool chemical dealer. We also provide pool service all year long.

#2: Keep Your Area Clean

Before your pool party, wipe down all of your patio furniture, including chairs and tables. Clean any areas where you’ll be serving food or offering drinks.

Consider wiping these areas down several times during your pool party.

#3: Encourage Social Distancing

The outdoors is a great place to be. In fact, it’s much safer than indoors. By keeping everyone outside, you’re less likely to spread the coronavirus.

To help you with social distancing, control your guest list and don’t invite more people than you can safely manage. Take a look at your backyard area, including your pool, and decide how many people you can safely invite. In addition, invite only those you can trust to follow your rules.

Get a leg up on this by placing chairs and tables and lounge chairs six feet apart. You can take it a step further and put up festive signs reminding people.

Before your party, ensure your guests know that you’d like them to be responsible and social distance. The last thing any of your party goers want is to take home anything other than tired kids and leftovers.

#4: Serve Individual Portions

Instead of serving a bowl of potato salad, consider serving individual portions. Get some cute holiday themed cups and spoon servings into them. Your guests can always come back for another cup!

You can do the same thing with burgers and ribs.  Grab some individual packets of ketchup and mustard.

When it comes to drinks, arrange them so party goers only touch one when reaching for a cool drink. Serve individual bottles, but don’t forget to recycle!

The best bet is to ditch the serving utensils because those are a source of germs.

Final Thoughts

We are social people, and we want to gather to celebrate the Fourth of July. So, instead of social distancing, practice physical distancing.

You can have a fun and relaxing pool party. Just make sure you’ve put your plans in place.

To stay safe means less people and more distance between them. You can do it and enjoy your Fourth of July weekend!
